Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike Review

Product Name: Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike
Brand: Schwinn
Rating:

Recumbent, Not Reclining

While recumbent bikes are often selected by those who experience chronic back pain or suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, this does not mean that they should also suffer from a low-quality work out.  Schwinn apparently took such concerns into consideration when they sent their design team to work on the 230 because the product that emerged from their meeting is a high caliber, ultra sleek exercise bike constructed to maximize comfort, convenience, and intensity.

Performance

The Schwinn 230 features a dual track LCD window that is capable of goal tracking and data export.  The machine also supplies 22 workout programs, 20 resistance levels, 13 unique display vitals, nine-course profiles, two user settings, and a partridge in a pear tree (okay, that last one was made up, but you get the point).  In addition to providing support to the lower back, the seat is also vented and elegantly curved at the legs, while a three-speed fan helps keep you cool for maximum comfort.  Loaded with features, this recumbent exercise bike is designed to motivate and inspire.

Key Features and Their Benefits

Equipped with a high speed, high inertial perimeter weighted flywheel, the Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike manages to be astonishingly quiet, while still providing multiple training levels that work to prevent the dreaded plateau.  This works alongside the pre-programmed course profiles to help keep your workouts challenging and stimulating.  T

Display

The extra large LCD console comes furnished with a USB port into which your device can be plugged for data exchange.  Your workout metrics can then be uploaded from your device to either SchwinnConnect, or MyFitnessPal, where you can track progress, goals, calories burned, and distance traveled.  As if all of this weren’t enough, the USB port that makes data exchange possible will also charge your device while you work out, and the built-in speakers make it so that you don’t have to strain to hear your music or audio-book.

Comfort

Known for offering superior comfort when compared to Upright bikes, Schwinn’s version of the recumbent bike takes it to a whole new level.  The extra wide seat is ventilated, provides back support, adjusts along the seat rail, and is contoured to accommodate your legs.  Throw the three-speed fan into the mix and you might as well be riding in a Cadillac luxury sedan.

Design

Weighing just a hair over 80 pounds and equipped with rollers, the Schwinn 230 can be easily transported from room to room.  With dimensions of 66.5″ x 27″ x 12.5″, the bike’s full footprint lends stability to the design even before the oversized crossbar and integrated levelers are taken into consideration.  The 230 can easily support user weight up to 300lbs.

Confidence

Schwinn places the trust of a 10-year frame warranty, a two-year mechanical warranty, and a one-year electrical warranty behind this product.  They are also willing to offer 90 days of free labor should anything go wrong, but with such a basic assembly, you shouldn’t need it.
